Getting back into the swing of things after the holiday break is always a struggle. I know I can’t be the only one who feels like doing absolutely nothing between Dec 24 and Jan 1. And if I’m being honest, my lazy girl attitude extended past the 1st and is just now starting to wear off (it’s the 5th). But sometimes breaks are needed and the best part about this one is that everyone else (for the most part) is taking one too so you don’t have to feel so guilty!

I spent Christmas with my cute family eating lasagna and cookies and then catching a 10pm showing of Little Women (it was cute but in my opinion, much too long).

Everything in between Christmas and NYE is a blur of sleeping in and dinners with family from out of town and far too much wine. On NYE my cousin Nina and I had what in my opinion is the ideal last day of the decade.

We met at the Bodyrok studio on Lombard and did our last workout of 2019 and then walked around the corner to get giant salads from Bluebarn (I’m not usually so Marina-y but it was the only studio with a time available that worked for both of us) and iced coffees. It was truly what basic bitch dreams are made of.

We took our sallies to go and ate them on my couch while watching the new season of You, then we showered and put on sweatpants and drank champagne all day while finishing the season.

At 7 we got ready for our 9pm dinner reservation at Flour + Water while we finished our second bottle of champagne.

Dinner was, as always, a pasta lover’s dream. They had a special tasting menu that was ridiculously delicious (the black truffle pasta was pure insanity) and we split a bottle of Lambrusco.

I was relieved that my cousin was down to go back home once we were finished because I was so full and so tired after having what added up to be a bottle and a half of wine to myself and a 5-course meal. We washed our faces, changed into our PJs and crawled in my bed to finish the last episode of You as we rang in the new year.

It was perfect!

I also started off 2020 with Burger King, so ya know, things are going well.

Now it’s back to reality and to a ton of new content coming your way this month!

I’m going to spend the rest of this Sunday taking down my Christmas decorations (finally), cleaning my house and meal prepping for the new week. It’s time to get my ish together!

How did you spend the holiday break? Tell me in the comments below!
