Tis the season to drink too much red wine and wear heinous oversized sweaters and call it “fashion”! Are you ready?
There is nothing I love more than a good holiday party. Everyone is in the mood to indulge in delicious treats and boozy beverages and we’re all feeling jolly af. I love it so much that I decided to throw my own holiday party this weekend! Keep up with me on Instagram (@shesmilesallday) to see the party shenanigans and stay tuned for a party planning post next week.
Another thing I love about holiday parties is that while you can always opt for the ugly Christmas sweater lewk it’s also totally acceptable to get a little more dressed up than usual. As someone who is perpetually overdressed, I love this time of year.
So what should you wear? I’m here to help! I curated three great holiday party outfit ideas that are easy to put together (you may even have some of these items in your closet already!) and will leave you feeling chic and merry for the entire holiday season.
For Your Fancy Holiday Party
Have a fancy party coming up? This stunning forest green lace midi dress is the way to go. It’s sophisticated, a little sexy and embraces the holiday cheer without being over the top. I wore this dress to a holiday work party last year and I got so many compliments!
It was actually my first date with this guy I met on Tinder which is pretty funny! I still can’t believe he took the risk of inviting a total stranger to his work party but I’m so glad he did because that shizz was fancy af and I loved it! Holiday party tip: add “now accepting boujee holiday party invites” to your dating profile bio. You’re welcome 😉
I love this dark green with pops of gold and black accessories. It keeps the whole look understated and effortlessly chic.

For Your Cozy Dinner Party
This is the outfit I’ll be wearing to my holiday party this weekend and I think it’s the perfect look for a house party!
I love any excuse to wear red lipstick so I decided to throw on this super soft cardigan with my tie-waist pleather mini skirt. Add a bold lip, a pearl headband, and some classic black boots and you’re totally mistletoe worthy!

For Your “Ugly” Christmas Party
I continue to wear this “I know when those sleigh bells rings” Drake sweater every holiday season despite it becoming less and less culturally relevant each year. Oh well!
We all love a good “ugly” Christmas sweater but we also all still want to be at least a little bit cute, ya know? Well, my friends, it’s all about the proportions!
If you’re wearing an oversized sweater then a slimmer bottom is the way to go. I love the idea of pairing it with some flattering faux leather pants but if that’s not your style, some great skinny jeans will look great as well. Add some comfy booties and festive accessories and you’re in business!
