I have always been one for the feminine details. Lace, florals, dainty jewelry, you name it. I have a hard time summing up my style because I also really love a good frilly meets edgy moment. Add a distressed moto jacket over a lacey summer dress and I am a happy girl.
That’s probably why when I saw all of the gorgeous embroidered denim options at Express a couple of weeks ago I went a littttleee overboard! Express has been my jeans retailer of choice for years because the fit is always flattering, they have a huge variety of different cuts and styles AND they come in a short option which a pigmy like myself really appreciates. PLUS while they’re typically moderately priced (for jeans anyway) they are constantly having amazing deals. I scored 6 pairs a couple of weeks ago during their 50% off denim promo!
One of my favorite pairs I picked up are these ultra feminie and super boho chic high waisted jeggings. The floral embroidery is SO pretty and whimsical and the high waist is incredibly flattering. It is a rare sight to see me in anything other than high waisted jeans. I just love knowing I can destroy an entire pizza while still disguising my food baby if I want to. I call them my “eating pants” which I hope is endearing but I’m sure is actually pretty gross (#iamwhoiam).
I paired them with this simple yet chic red off the shoulder crop top (also Express) to bring out the pretty red flowers in the jeans. I love this look for a fun summer date night or a girls’ night out at a rooftop bar. It’s flirty and bold while still remaining somewhat casual and approachable because you’re wearing denim after all.
I threw on a cute pair of black strappy sandals to elevate the look (literally) and reached for the removable clutch off of my beloved Henri Bendel Rivington Tote to tie in the red color story. My black moto jacket is placed effortlessly over my shoulders in case anyone forgets how cool I am. It also has a funky embroidered butterfly on the back so everything feels cohesive.
I often look at basics that have added embellishments like embroidery and think they’re too distinct to consider adding to my casual wardrobe. But by investing in a few not so basic basics you’ll instantly have an elevated outfit ready to go. These jeans could easily be paired with a white t-shirt and converse and take what would normally be a ho-hum outfit to a whole other level. Just because something is basic doesn’t mean it has to be boring!
Shop this entire look at the bottom of the post! As always, I linked a ton of similar options are a variety of affordable price points. What is your favorite trend this summer? Tell me in the comments below! Xo, Sheila

I love this styling of those jeans! I don’t own an embroidered pair up, but I feel like it’d be such a quick way to snazz up my classic jeans + t-shirt/sweater combo!

I thought I was hot stuff in my embroidered jeans when I was a teenager. I’m excited to see it’s coming back! I’ll be shopping embroidered denim soon 😁
