Fashion has always been an important part of my life. When I was a little girl I use to draw my own “designs” (they were trash) and tell everyone I was going to be a fashion designer.

I gave up on that dream when I realized I was terrible at drawing and had zero interest in actually creating clothes. But I always maintained a love for styling that stayed with me into adulthood and is obviously a big inspiration for this blog.

Putting together an outfit I love gives me confidence like nothing else. Walking into a room knowing that I’m wearing something I’m proud of makes me feel unstoppable. It can instantly lift my spirits and turn a bad day into a memorable one.

As you may have noticed, I do not shy away from color. I did an entire post on why I think you neutral loving ladies should give it a try and showed you how you can start incorporating it into your wardrobe. You can check out that post here! I love bold prints and vibrant colors and anything that I deem as “interesting” or that has a unique spin on an otherwise basic af piece. I love it because I love the feeling of confidence it gives me when I know I’m wearing something no one else has or would think to pair together.

However, I totally get the neutral color palette. I really do. It’s chic and classic and very adult. And it doesn’t have to be boring! It’s all about pattern play and mixing textures and…adding in some muted color here and there! Yes, I said it! Trust me. You will love it.

Neutrals are the look I opt for when I’m feeling a) businessy (not a word, let’s roll with it anyway) b) light and airy or c) sophisticated and ladylike. When done correctly, they give me just as much of an ego boost as a pair of fire engine red boots would!

If you don’t believe me check out my outfit details below to learn how I created a fun, feminine and totally summertime ready look using my favorite neutral pieces.

I paired this chic af off the shoulder striped dress (the tie detail is what sold me) with a few other neutral pieces that weren’t all necessarily within the same color family but gave the look a boho feel.

My favorite white moto jacket adds a trendy factor but is still crisp and bright for this spring-to-summer time of year. Keeping it casually draped over the shoulder will give you this effortlessly cool vibe.

I threw on one of my favorite pairs of shoes for the warmer months: my brown heeled mules. Not only are they super easy (no straps! chunky heel!) and comfortable but the brown adds this summery feel to the whole look that keeps is fresh.

I accessorized with my black wide-brimmed hat and this adorable little paisley tie scarf that made me feel like I should be spending the day in the backseat of a convertible, picnic basket in hand and oversized sunglasses permanently attached to my face.

My bag is an oldie from Coach that I adore! The blue pebble leather adds a great contrasting texture to the faux suede shoes but actually has a matching interior! Yes, no one can see it, but I know its there. I wanted to tie in a subtle hint of color that wouldn’t necessarily steal the show from the other neutrals but would instead elevate them.
