Ugh, I hate to start out my blog posts this way because it’s so typical but: can you guys effing believe its already May?! How?!
2018 is flying by and I don’t even know what to do about it man. But then again, this is how it feels (and what I say) every year so I should probably stop acting so shocked. Like, duh, time moves on with you. Not everything revolves around you, Sheila.
Anyway, with May comes the “it’s almost summer” excitement that I’m sure people who live in places with actual seasons can relate to. Even if here in San Francisco our summers are gloomy af we still love a good warm weather activity whenever the sun does decide to grace us with its presence.
I’ll be sharing some great ways to transition your spring wardrobe into summer over the next few weeks and wanted to kick off May with some summer day date inspo!
I decided to throw on the quintessential spring fabric that never goes out of style: chambray. Both classic and casual, this adorable chambray dress takes a flirty spin on a basic concept. The ruffles are playful and add a feminine vibe while the fit keeps the dress comfy and flattering.
I paired this beauty with pastels because #spring and decided to go for a more casual dressed down look with sneakers and a moto jacket since this look is meant for a fun day out with your special someone.
These pink sneakers were super inexpensive and also are very comfy! I love that they create a casual vibe for my outfit but still are girly and fun. My jacket is an oldie from Zara but I can find the same style (it looks like the pink is just sold out and will probably be restocked!) and will also link similar options. She’s a gorgeous faux-suede moto in the perfect blush color that creates the ultimate juxtaposition (edgy meets ultra feminine).
I grabbed my dainty Kate Spade pink polka dot clutch (also an oldie but a goodie!) because when your girl commits to a color palette she COMMITS.
This dress could easily be elevated for a romantic summer night out with brown wedges, a top knot, dangly earrings and a pretty shawl/scarf situation or delicate cardigan.
Shop the entire look at the end of this post!
In San Francisco and in need of someday date inspiration? Check out my top three-day date ideas for the city by the bay!
OFF THE GRID ON SUNDAYS
Off The Grid is, in my opinion, the best thing that has ever happened to date night in the Bay Area. It’s just one big food truck festival! And it happens all over the Bay Area every week! I recently went two weeks in a row and ate so much pork belly (my latest obsession, along with leeks #leekfreak) that I had to really start reevaluating my priorities in life.
On Sundays in the city, you can find OTG at the Presidio for a giant food truck picnic extravaganza! Grab a blanket and some beers and take your SO to eat your weight in grilled cheese nachos while sunbathing and people watching.
PICNIC IN GOLDEN GATE PARK
I know I just mentioned a picnic with epic food trucks but if you’re looking for something more DIY and fewer calories, making your own picnic in Golden Gate Park is the way to go!
Take a scenic stroll past Stow Lake, hop in a paddle boat and then take your cute homemade picnic lunch to a grassy spot where you can creep on all the cute dogs walking by.
My go-to picnic items: wine, cheese, berries, chocolate, and more wine!
HIT UP YOUR FAVORITE WINE BAR
Okay and yes, I just mentioned wine above as well, but, I think there is nothing that screams summer day date more than relaxing with a chilled glass of Rosé on a cute patio!
I’ve been loving Mission Cheese lately because they give you a very generous pour and maintain a cozy but hip vibe. You can also grab a seat outside and soak up some sun while watching as San Francisco’s interesting mission characters stroll by.
What is your idea of the perfect summer day date? Tell me in the comments below!
Xoxo,

One of my favorite date outfits was a similar look in the same color palette! Great minds! I wore this really cute mauve-pink t shirt dress with off white vans, a denim jacket, and a blush pink purse! I loved that look and my date did too!
