To me, there is nothing chicer than a trench coat. Other than hilarious visions of me sleuthing around the city with a fedora and a newspaper (fake mustache optional) the trench coat trend always summons up feelings of sophistication and effortless glamour.
And the best part is, it’s functional af! Woo!
I used my favorite sky blue trench to elevate my otherwise admittedly basic Saturday morning look. I threw on my favorite pair of distressed jeans (you seem them on me way too much and I will not apologize), a cute quarter sleeve oatmeal turtleneck and my go-to leopard print booties.
Turtlenecks and trench coats were made for each other and there is no convincing me otherwise. They both have the power to transform you from messy-haired, undereye bag toting, yesterday’s makeup lady into sexy, sophisticated, confident woman in minutes! If that isn’t getting your money’s worth then I don’t know what is.
It was the perfect outfit to pair with my favorite backpack, the Henri Bendel Jetsetter. This gorgeous gray and black sleek bag is the epitome of city style chic and I am here for it!
On this particular gloomy San Francisco Saturday I found myself en route to Mission Beach Cafe, a wildly popular brunch spot that my cousin and everyone else in the mission district has been telling me I need to go to for years. The long lines have always deterred me (I am a lazy girl, we know this) but I decided that it was time!
There was actually only a short 20-minute wait (which totally flew by as I listened to a horrific tinder date story from my cousin) before we were whisked inside to be seated.
We started our meal with two giant grapefruit mimosas that were ridiculously refreshing and also gave us an excellent Saturday morning buzz which just happens to be my drunk of choice.
After some gossip and 20 minutes, our food arrived and it did NOT disappoint!
I ordered the most delicious burger with TRUFFLE FRIES! Ah! You guys, seeing truffle fries on a menu literally gets my blood pumping. I was thrilled!
I always get my burgers medium rare and if it were socially acceptable I would eat them close to raw because I am an animal. Sorry, but it’s true. This burger was SO juicy and flavorful, and I loved every moment. It was delicious to the last bite, in all its rare, meaty glory.
Eh, you probably could have done without that last sentence, huh? Oh well!
The fries had the perfect crunch factor (no one likes soggy fries!) and the truffle and cheese made them a true delight.
My cousin ordered this absurdly delicious shredded braised beef hash with an EGG on top that truly took my breath away. I stole several bites and it was so effing tender I’m getting worked up just thinking about it. Heaven with every bite!
We ordered another round of giant grapefruit mimosas only to realize that they were actually closing for the day and we were being truly obnoxious. They offered to get us to go cups which were actually just big coffee cups so we strolled down Guerrero, ridiculously large grapefruit mimosas disguised as coffee in hand as we contemplated if this made us alcoholics.
The rest of the day was spent on my cousin’s couch watching Real Housewives, eating Mexican food, guzzling margaritas and having a jolly good time. I love those kinds of Saturdays.
You can find Mission Beach Cafe and their giant grapefruit mimosas at 198 Guerrero St. in San Francisco and you can recreate my look with the many options I’ve listed below.
I hope this gave you brunch inspo to get you through the rest of this week!
What’s your go-to brunch order? Tell me in the comments!
Xoxo,
