Can you believe Christmas is only a week away? I should probably start buying people gifts, huh?
I’m a pretty solid gift giver in general but every year when Christmas rolls around I always wait until the last minute which inevitably makes the gifts a little less thoughtful than I’d like. If you’ve been getting a bath bomb and a pair of earrings from me for the past 6 years you now know why.

This year is definitely feeling new to me because in past years I’ve been running a store and feeling wildly stressed out and drained. But this year since I’m working for myself I haven’t had that feeling of impending doom that the holiday season used to bring me.
It’s definitely a surreal feeling to go from being overworked, irritable and just generally grumpy all the time to not even registering that it’s almost Christmas.
I’m super grateful for this dramatically transformative year and all of the changes it’s brought. Even with the new set of challenges that come with working for yourself, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Alright, let’s get to the reason you’re here: this AMAZING velvet jumpsuit. If this thing doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit then I don’t know what freaking will. Just look at it!
I love the comfy, soft feel of this jumpsuit and how it hugs the curves in all the right places (pretty sure my butt isn’t this big in real life but this jumpsuit is magical). It’s flattering and in a beautiful shade of deep ruby that’s perfect for a glamorous Christmas party or a fancy dinner if your family is classy like that (mine is not).

I threw this classic black moto jacket over it to give it an edgier look which I thought was a great contrast with the elegance of the velvet. This jumpsuit is super low cut as you can see and also has a low back so it was tricky to find a bra that would work with it. Obviously, you could just #freethenipple and go braless but it’s not really my thing. I like the girls to be supported and warm. I finally went with this gorgeous black velvet bustier that I got from Victoria’s Secret a year ago (sorry) and loved the velvet on velvet look. If you’re not trying to show off your goods at the dinner table then a cute bralette or bustier will look great!
I obviously reached for one of my red Henny Benz faves (henny benz = Henri Bendel, and yes, I know no one calls it that) to keep the look feeling cohesive with the color palette.

The shoes are basic black booties but you could totally do strappy black heels too. If you’re a shorty like me I would recommend wearing something that will give you a little height so the jumpsuit doesn’t work against you since it only comes in a regular length.
