If you’re anything like me when you see something you know is meant to be yours you go after it with wild abandon. You’re prepared to do whatever it takes to get your hands on it.
No, I am not referring to my dream career or the perfect guy. I’m talking about the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette. Duh.
When I saw it announced on UD’s Instagram I immediately went to their website and attempted to track down a release date. An entire palette dedicated to warm, earthy reds and oranges? Um, yes please.
It took me a few days to finally find the release date (why do they do that?) but when I finally did I was READY.
I set an alarm for midnight of the release date and when it rolled around I added it to my cart in a total state of panic followed by a wave of relief because I got it before it sold it out. At the time I was enjoying a post drunk bowling diner indulgence (mac and cheese is just better at 12am) and threw down my fork like a psycho when I heard the alarm go off.
Two days later I got to see this beauty in person and as you can probably tell from this slightly over dramatized tale, it was everything I had hoped for.
So let’s get into it!
Like all other Naked palettes this one comes with 12 gorgeous shades that are blendable, uber pigmented and have minimal fall out. I can say with confidence that the UD eye shadow formula is in my top three favorites of all time.
This palette is a warm neutral dream with a stunning range of smokey reds. From their pink champagnes to their rust hued reds all the way to their deep chocolatey maroons this palette contains everything you need for a bold sun kissed look this summer.
The two light matte shades “Ounce” and “Chaser” are the perfect defusers for the more intense reds and are a great way to blend out your crease shades so you can avoid a harsh orange line. I also found myself using “Ounce” as a matte cream lid color during the day when I didn’t want to have an overly shimmery look.
I typically have been blending “Sauced” into my crease and using “Low Blow” to add definition to the outer part of my crease. “Ember” and “Scorched” are so gorgeous being layered over each other to create this shimmer gradient effect. If I want something smokey or more dramatic then I add “Ashes” into my lower outer corner and blend with “En Fuego”.
I know that this palette is going to be on repeat all summer and is definitely coming with me to my upcoming trip to Atlanta. It’s multifaceted enough in it’s range to be used for an effortless every day look or for a dramatic night time one.
It definitely limits your options for a complimentary lip shade, so I would stick in the warm family so your overall look is cohesive. A peachy nude or a rust colored red would look amazing.
If you’re in love with this palette you can find it here. I would grab it before it goes out of stock again!
