Another year, another turkey. Mmm and dinner rolls and mashed potatoes and THE PIES. Those pies. Thanksgiving is truly the foodie’s holiday.
This year unfortunately I will not get to celebrate my Thanksgiving with my family as I will be helping other people buy underwear for their families. Early access Black Friday deals are a bitch.
It makes me pretty sad but I also know that there is so much to be grateful for and it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without me actually being thankful. I know I’ve mentioned before how important gratitude is to me and the ways it can change your life. So much of how we feel comes directly from inside ourselves and our inner dialogue. Do we rise up and say “no thanks” to the negativity or do we live and breathe the not so great things that we simply cannot control? I prefer to stay positive and to say thank you every day for what I have.
This year I am as always, so thankful for the people in my life who bring me unlimited joy, love and support. My parents never cease to amaze me with their generosity and kindness and they truly remind me every day with their actions to strive to be a good person. Not just successful or happy, but a good person to others.
My cousins and my best friends are the people who know the most about me, the ones who I’m most comfortable around and the ones who always listen. They’re sprinkled all over the country but the distance doesn’t stop us from being a part of each other’s lives. They’re the people who make me laugh the hardest, I am the most honest with and who above all make me feel the most like myself.
I’m also tremendously grateful for all of the personal success and happiness I’ve found this year. 2016 has been an interesting year in that several unfortunate things happened but there were also some really amazing moments that make it impossible for me to classify it as a “bad year”. I’ll go more in depth when New Year’s Eve rolls around, but I guess what I’m most thankful for is that I was able to find resilience and perseverance within myself that got me through some difficult times and also helped me reach some pretty fantastic goals.
Finding a way to be grateful for yourself and what you have to offer truly opens up your heart and allows you to start viewing the world around you in such an optimistic way. I really recommend it.
I hope all of you get to spend this day with your loved ones and are in a semi-paralyzing food coma by the end of the night.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Xoxo,
She
