It is my firm belief that Sundays are for eating. Which is why I spent my Sunday brunching, then drinking, then eating again. It’s the only way to do it.

I had been to Hog & Rocks a few times before but not during their brunch hours so I was excited to see what they had to offer. The first thing out of the waitress’s mouth was “Did you guys hear about our buy one get one special for mimosas?”. Um, no we did not. But, yes we would like that. Thanks!

So we shared our bargain carafes of mimosas even though we had walked in adamant that Bloody Mary’s would be the drink of choice that morning. Oh well. We survived!

It was around noon at that point so I felt comfortable ordering more on the “unch” side of the menu (see what I did there?). We started with the deviled eggs which were insane. They have bacon and an oyster on top of them. An oyster. They were so good. There were only three which in my opinion was just criminal. I was tempted to order more but my cousin reminded me that I had just eaten a full meal and probably didn’t actually have any room left (debatable). The paprika gives them a delicious kick that balances out the smokey flavor of the bacon and the satisfying crunch of the oyster. Hands down my favorite take on deviled eggs.

After contemplating flagging down the waitress to cancel my order and just get three more plates of deviled eggs, I decided to stick with the original plan and get the H&R Burger and I’m so glad I did. There are two patties, caramelized onions, cheese and crispy fries on the side. I love crispy fries. Truly, there is nothing better. I ordered my burger medium rare and it was a great compliment to the toasted bun. Also, I appreciate a burger that is easy to eat. I have small hands, I’m not down to have to eat my burger with a fork because the buns can’t contain the contents.

My cousin got the chicken and waffles, a classic brunch choice. We traded bites and the chicken was so tender and juicy. The waffle was made with bacon yeast and had a delicious crispy factor that made each bite the perfect mix of sweet and savory.

What is your favorite deviled eggs recipe? Tell me in the comments!

Xoxo,

She
