I think it’s safe to say that the glowing skin trend is here to stay. There’s nothing better than looking healthy, dewy and luminous. We’re all trying to get that glow!
When I saw the Glamglow Glowstarter on Sephora I knew I had to add it to my basket for a couple of reasons. The first being that I love everything that Glamglow does and have yet to meet a GG product I haven’t become addicted to. The second being that illuminating primers are my jam.
This product in particular is described as a “mega illuminating moisturizer” and is meant to both hydrate and illuminate your skin. Um, yes please.
I’ve been playing around with it for the last week and experimented with how to use it in a few different ways:
1. SOLO
The first day I used this I didn’t use any other moisturizer or primer and only applied this to my face before my foundation. It definitely did the job of both products plus had the added benefit of making me look SO dewy. My foundation went on smoothly and my skin didn’t feel dry or irritated. It has great consistency and is neither too thick or too…liquidy (I can write in proper English sometimes, I swear). Even with foundation over it my skin still looked glowy and vibrant.
2. WITH MOISTURIZER & PRIMER
The next day I applied the Glowstarter after my Clinque moisturizer and Make Up For Ever Hydrating primer and loved the way all three made my skin feel. It didn’t feel heavy or gooey, it seeps into the skin fairly quickly. Having all three uber hydrating products as a prep for my foundation made my skin so soft and luminous I found myself checking out my face in the mirror constantly all day (this may or may not be a daily occurrence, but still). Definitely my favorite way to use it of the three!
3. MIXING IT WITH FOUNDATION
Finally on the third day of using it I decided to mix it in with my actual foundation to see how it looked and the results were very similar to the previous experiments. My skin didn’t necessarily looked any more luminous that the first two days, that being said my skin was so glowy and bright. It did make the application of my foundation a little smoother and made the consistency of my Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup a little creamier which I enjoyed, but it didn’t blow me away.
I’m definitely going to continue to use this several times a week. It gives the skin a beautiful glow and a smooth, healthy finish that I’m obsessed with. It has a light citrusy scent that’s very pleasant and not too overpowering. It is however, an extra step so while I really love this product and will definitely repurchase it, it is not necessarily going to be a part of every day’s makeup routine.
