If you know me then you know my holy grail is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup foundation ($38, get it here). The formula is flawless and it actually does not move. It makes my skin look luminous and glowy while not allowing the foundation to move at all. It doesn’t start to break up in my T-zone like other foundations and for that reason it will always be my favorite. However, there is one small issue, that being that there isn’t a great color match for me. I am VERY pale. Like, blinding. Yikes. So even after getting color matched and using the coolest and lightest shade (Cool Bone or 1C1) it is still just a little too dark for me. Ghost problems, am I right? For that reason, I am always searching for a foundation that has a formula I love as much as this one but that suits my skin tone better. I heard great reviews about both of the two foundations featured above so I decided to pick them up and continue my quest for the perfect foundation for a pasty little pigmy like me.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion ($15, get it here)

I saw a youtuber talking about this foundation and also found it to be really cute. Cushion is a cute word, it’s a fact. I also use the L’Oreal concealer crayon and really love it for concealing any blemishes so I figured I would give it a try and see if the two shades of pale would work well together. I got mine in N2 because it was the lightest shade available but I probably need something closer to N-50, but whatever. So low and behold, you pop the cap open and it really is a precious little cushion in there waiting for you. It comes with a small circular pad that you’re suppose to use for application but that’s def a light suggestion, thanks but no thanks L’Oreal. I think a beauty blender would be a great tool for applying this foundation but I went with my personal favorite, the F80 from Sigma ($24, get it here) for my first time giving it a go. It’s very buildable which definitely makes it a more versatile foundation. I’m a full coverage girl so I applied two layers and was satisfied with the coverage and the color. It’s definitely a closer fit to this whole translucent thing I have going on, so I was pleased. I wore it for a full 8 hours and after a long day of work I was impressed that it hadn’t completely melted off of my face. I did have some break up on my nose, forehead and chin but nothing truly scary going on. It really is a very luminous foundation and made my highlight look very natural. I think it would be a great foundation for summer and the application is really easy because of the cushion (lol). It won’t be my everyday foundation but I’ll definitely grab it from time to time.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation ($43, get it here)

I had already purchased and used an entire bottle of the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation (spoiler alert, it’s not in a stick form) and really liked it. Not as much as the love of my life, Estee Lauder, but I did like it. So I considered just buying another bottle and mixing it with my Double Wear so I could get the color I wanted but with the formula I loved, and I probably will, but while I was on Sephora my lazy inner self became so intrigued by the thought of a stick foundation that I had to purchase it immediately. The application is fantastic, just a couple of swipes here and there and I blend it out with my F80, easy peasy. The formula is basically the exact same as its liquid counterpart. It gives fantastic coverage and the 115 Ivory shade it a great match for my skin. It lasts longer throughout the day than the Lumi Cushion (lol) but does begin to break up a bit between my eyebrows and on my chin after around 9-12 hours which is not bad at all. Plus there’s the added bonus that this foundation was created to make you look like a normal human in photographs instead of, well, me. Can you imagine how scary a white cast looks on me when my face is already basically a white cast? Eek. Jokes aside (but I’m actually serious), I will definitely be reaching for this foundation more often and alternating it between my old favorite.
