New Products Review: ABH, Nars, Smashbox, Colourpop & Benefit!

My thoughts on some of my recents purchases!  I’ve been really into concealer and contouring products lately so I was really excited to pick up a few new products that I’ve heard great things about. Also, I tried out a new brand and a new mascara. Everything is linked below!

BENEFIT ROLLER LASH MASCARA ($24)

I grabbed this on a whim because although I love my holy grail, Benefit They’re Real mascara, I’m always on the look out for something better. And I have to say, Benefit delivered again. I LOVE this mascara. I might even love it more than the They’re Real. The thin bristles (is that what they’re called?) and curved brush create really long, dramatic lashes, which I love. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS CONCEALER ($20)

I finally got around to ordering this and I’m so glad I did! The consistency is AMAZING. So creamy and blendable! And a little really does go a long way because the product is so thick. I’ve been using it shape my brows and clean up any mistakes I make. Haven’t tried it under my eyes or on blemishes yet but I feel like it would work well as a spot concealer as well. COLOURPOP SHADOWS ABD LIPPIE STIX ($5)

I’ve been following this brand on Instagram forever and finally decided to place an order! First of all, the packaging is so fun and sleek and the price is NUTS. All of their shadows and lip products are just $5. Say whaaaaat? The best part? The quality is fantastic. The shadows are so vibrant and easy to work with and the Lippie Stix give great color pay off is just one swipe. I’ll definitely be placing another order soon! SMASHBOX STEP BY STEP CONTOUR STICK TRIO ($45) 

So I know I’m definitely not the only one hopping on this contour and highlight trend! It’s been everywhere lately and I’m loving it. When I saw these online I knew I had to pick them up. Because real talk, contouring is hard. I’m experimenting with it myself and it never really seems to turn out exactly how I would like it. Getting closer though! But these sticks actually make it super easy because you don’t have to use a brush to apply them. They’re creamy and the perfect shades. The contour shade is a cool toned brown that will work with anyone’s skin tone. They definitely make keeping up with the newest trend easy! NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER ($29)

This is one product I hear about all the time but have never gotten around to trying. So when I exchanged the new Nars foundation that didn’t work for me, I decided to give it a try. I have mixed feelings about it. On its own the concealer isn’t as easy to blend out as I had hoped and definitely needs to be set with a powder immediately. However, I’ve found that when I apply it over my usual under eye concealer, Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, that I really love the combo. My shade is Chantilly and it really helps brighten my under eye and when paired with the Maybelline concealer it is much easier to blend. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS CONTOUR CREAM KIT ($40)

As soon as I heard this was launching I set an alarm in my phone so I would remember to purchase it as soon as it was released. Yes, I’m that person. But I knew it would sell out fast and I had to have it! ABH is probably in my top three favorite brands so anytime they release something new I’m always dying to try it. I got the Light kit, but am definitely looking forward to seeing what the Fair kit will look like when it is released later this year. I’ve used it a few times now and I have to say, the consistency is fantastic but the shades themselves are not my favorite. It might be because I do have really fair skin and they just might be better suited for someone who isn’t as pale, but they’re just too warm for me. I’m a firm believer in contouring with cool toned browns and bronzing with warm toned browns. And these shades just seem really warm to me. However, the highlight shade in the middle (Vanilla) is beautiful and does a great job of brightening up my under eye area and the middle of my forehead. I definitely prefer the original ABH contour kit, but I think if the Fair kit has shades that work better with my skin tone then it will be a product I’ll reach for more often.
