For the past several years I have taken time towards the end of the year to write out my NY resolutions on a nice piece of paper with nice pens and get really fancy with it. It makes my resolutions feel so much more official than just quickly jotting them down or even just keeping them in my head. I like to hang them in my room as a reminder throughout the year of what I’m looking to accomplish. Just to be clear, while mine are obviously personalized towards my life, there are definitely some common themes (fitness and financial goals, etc.) throughout them. So here are my 12 New Year Resolutions:

1. COMMIT TO LIVING A HEALTHIER LIFE. GO TO BOOTCAMP AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK, PACK MY OWN MEALS FOR SCHOOL & WORK, AND LIMIT HOW OFTEN I EAT OUT
Alright, this is a long one. And a big one. But it is also an important one. I’m sure you’re rolling your eyes because everyone always makes a grand fitness goal at the beginning of the new year, only to abandon it by January 12th. But a girl can dream right? I want to feel healthier and I want to be in better shape. But I can’t just keep saying those things and will them to happen. I have to commit to making healthier choices and what better time to start than with everyone else. Except I’m really hoping I’m one of the few who sticks with it. I signed up for a bootcamp class and just have to get myself over there at least 3 times a week. Buying groceries every week is way less expensive than eating out every day and I can actually cook tasty meals that won’t clog my arteries. Win win.

2. PAY OFF ALL OF MY CREDIT CARDS AND USE THEM MORE CAREFULLY
Fine. I’ll admit it. Sometimes I get a little too excited in Sephora. And Express. And on Amazon. I may have a problem. But I’m working on it! It’s not easy having a passion for makeup and fashion because both of those things come with a price tag. However, I have already started cooling it on the shopping and have paid off a good chunk of my credit cards. They’re by no means maxed out, however they certainly have a balance. If I can just get them paid off then I can finally have this weight lifted off of my shoulders and use my paychecks for fun things. Like makeup and fashion.

3. POST AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK TO THE BLOG
This one starts now. I love writing. I always have and writing content for my blog always makes me really happy. I just get overwhelmed with work and school and then end up only wanting to sleep. But I know that if I want to actually make something of this I have to be more consistent. So that’s what I’m going to do.

4. INVEST IN A HIGHER QUALITY CAMERA
My camera is just awful. It really is. It dies really quickly and goes in and out of focus when I’m making videos for my channel. I need something that I can rely on. I want to be able to post more quality content to my blog and to my channel and I need the right tools. However, I literally know nothing about cameras. Any suggestions of ones you would recommend? Leave them in the comments!

5. UPLOAD AT LESAT 2 VIDEOS A MONTH TO MY CHANNEL
Videos take a lot of work. I don’t have any camera lighting (although it’s on my list) so I have to make sure I record during the day. It can be hard to squeeze it in because even a short video can take an hour to create. Not to mention after the video has been made all of the editing. I don’t want to post something that isn’t good quality or isn’t enjoyable to watch so I’m a bit of a perfectionist. So I haven’t posted one in a really long time, but I’d like to start again. I’m going to start slow and see if I can get at least two a month up. Maybe from there I can get up to once a week.

6. GET PROMOTED AT WORK
I’m currently a retail supervisor and am hoping to get promoted to a higher level of management this year. I’ve been working really hard this past year to improve and grow in my current position and I definitely feel like I’m ready for more responsibility. And more money.

7. FINISH COLLEGE
This is a big one for me. If you go to a public university you’ll understand how difficult it can be to get all of the classes you need to graduate. Not only is it hard to get a spot in them because they are so impacted, but it’s really difficult to work and go to school. I know that most college students do it so I know that I am not at all unique, but that doesn’t make juggling it all any easier. Working full time and going to school full time is absolutely exhausting and I’ve had to take my time with school so I don’t overwhelm myself and die. I’m not super behind, I’m hoping to graduate this year which would only mean taking one extra semester. Four and a half years isn’t bad at SFSU. All I need to do it keep up on my grades and I can do it.

8. PUT MORE EFFORT INTO MY JEWELRY BUSINESS
I feel really lucky that I found another opportunity to make more money without having to physically go to another job. However, sometimes I have a hard time treating my jewelry business as my second job. I push it off to the side and get sheepish about it. But I know that if I can dedicate at least three hours a week to it (a little more than 30 minutes every week day) then I can actually begin to supplement my income. I just have to stay focused and carve out the time for it that it deserves.

9. MAKE DECISIONS THAT WILL SUPPORT YOUR HAPPINESS. FOCUS ON YOU.
This may seem a little selfish but I feel like there are times in life when you have to be. I spent a lot of this last year focusing on other people and it hasn’t brought me any happiness at all because they certainly were not doing the same for me. I want to be happy and do things that make me happy. So for 2015 I’m going to keep myself in mind when I’m making decisions, no one else.

10. MAKE TIME FOR THE THINGS YOU LOVE.
This kind of echos what I was saying earlier about posting more to my blog and youtube channel. Basically I want to be able to actually have time for all of the things that I love to do. Whether that be writing for my blog or spending time with my friends. I want to make time.

11. SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH MY PARENTS AS POSSIBLE
I already do spend a good amount of time with my parents considering my busy schedule and that they live about an hour away. I feel so incredibly blessed that they live over the bridge and that I can visit them whenever I want to. Being at home with them is so relaxing and always makes me feel happy and rejuvenated. I also know how happy it makes them. So I want to spend as much time with them as I can in 2015.

12. INCREASE MY MONTHLY INCOME BY $500
To some people this may sound like a lot and to others it may not sound like very much at all. But for me, a broke college student, it sounds like a world of difference. I want to focus on making more monthly so I can feel more secure and relaxed. Last month I had to get my car fixed and it essentially took my entire paycheck. An extra $500 would have been a huge help then. So that is my goal, which I am hoping to achieve through a few of the resolutions listed above.

Well there you have it. My resolutions for the year of 2015. What do you think? What are yours? I’d love to hear them. Leave them in the comments!
